When we decided to become homeowners there were 5 properties in the running. Each property had features we loved and each property was vastly different. A New-build, a 1930s ex-council property, a bay fronted Victorian terrace, a detached Edwardian property and a 1940s end terrace.
As soon as I walked inside the Victorian Terrace I knew it would be the house that I compared all others too. I think I fell in love straight away. From the outside it was nothing fancy, it didn’t have off-road parking or a large driveway which we were used too. It didn’t have a front garden, just a tiny bit of muck behind a wall. However, upon entering I soon discovered it was like the Tardis… Larger on the inside. It was the high ceilings, period features and large glass entrance way that I fell in love with. I loved the light and airy feeling you got on the ground floor with the glass entry and the large patio doors into the dining room. As I slowly walked around I desperately hoped that the 3rd bedroom wasn’t going to ruin the experience for me. It was the one aspect that I would not cave on. I wanted my youngest son Miller to have a nice sized space to call his own. All the houses we had viewed had tiny 3rd bedrooms that would only just fit a bed. I was so happy to discover that not only could you fit a double bed in the 3rd room, but a chest of drawers and wardrobe comfortably too. I began to plan and imagine what I could change, what I could improve and how our family would live here.
Below are the pictures I took on my first look around. I remember thinking that this property had so much potential and that it would grow with us as a family.
As you can see, it was a work in progress, and there were some rooms that hadn’t even been plumbed in yet, but I knew we could get it where we wanted it and the majority of the hard work was done. I knew this was the property for us.
Also don’t mind the random man in the kitchen, I soon discovered he came with the house. Lol!
