Switched On.

Christmas in the Blanderson household was extra fun with the arrival of a Nintendo Switch Console. Miller had asked for one when they were first released, but the cost alone was enough to put me off. I was feeling festively generous as well as a little merry and thought it would be a good idea to make it a gift for the whole family, something we could all play together. It’s not often that Andy’s still long enough to enjoy a little R&R, especially with the kids. It may not be quality family time, outside enjoying the fresh air exercising, but figured it would still be quality family fun time indoors where it’s nice and warm. I’m running on the quantity over quality theory at the moment because it’s been so long since we have spent any time all together.

The big reveal came on Christmas day and in Miller’s excitement, he dropped it within the first thirty minutes causing a massive scratch down the screen. Not to sound too much like Victor Meldrew but I could not believe it!!!

Why? Why? Why didn’t I put a protective screen on it? Every other expensive gadget we own has one – Totally gutted!

Halleluja!! I found a small thread on a gadget website, where someone had attempted to remove it with car scratch remover so I purchased some from Amazon.

Life saving solution.

I used QUIXX QA1 Reliable Acrylic Surface Scratch Remover for Car Motorcycle Caravan Boat Furniture Etc. Includes 50g Tube Polish. It came with a polishing cloth and abrasive paper which was excellent and the reviews were pretty amazing as well. It was a reasonable mid range price, not the cheapest nor the most expensive.

According to the instructions, you squirt a small bit of paste onto scratch and rub, rub, rub continuously for a couple of minutes or until your arm hurts, which ever comes first – my arm ached after a while, so I stopped.

“Wow” – I actually said this outlaid, amazingly it had disappeared.

I was shaking in astonishment the whole time I rather rapidly applied the new screen protector, lol! This was also purchased from Amazon for peanuts when you factor in what you actually pay for the console.

A must have for any gadget.

Life Lesson No. 1 – Never Ever give anything expensive to your over-excited child when you haven’t protected it to the very fullest, it will only lead to heartbreak.
